Mental Illness, depression, anxiety

Updated: Dec 27, 2023

I do not have any personal experience with any of these issues. These suggestions below are from others who have or other hebalists.

Drugs and Herbs may give temporary releif, but not always a cure. Others times we need to detox our bodies from toxins and heavy metals, and this will help correct the underlying issue. Herbs can help in this area. Listed at the bottom of this article.

Below is a video of Barbara O'Neill, herbalist, who shows how to overcome mental illness naturally.

Depression: From Barbara O'Neill

Brain needs to be nurioushed with proper minerals and nutrients.

The mind is a Hydroelectric system.

Sleep is needed 8 hrs daily

Barbara goes on to say that many people come to her retreat with mental illness, depression, and her first approach is to remove caffine, refined sugars, alcohol, increase water intake to 8 glasses per day, and place them on a vegies juice cleans for the first 2 days then a plant based diet the remainder portion of their stay (1 to 2 weeks). She also has then excercise and take steam baths. She said she noticed in most of these folks just those changes in their diet and daily life reduced there mental issues significantly in just a couple of days.

She said from there forgiveness is usually the next step in overcoming depression and other mental illness.

Some say these issues are a chemical imbalance. I believe that the negitive thoughts, company, and speech can cause this chemical imbalance, or toxins in your system; not that an imbalance occurs on its own creating the illness. An example is lack of forgiveness to others. or a poor diet can lead to mental illness as well.

We all should know that emotional and mental issues can cause physical changes and symptoms as well.

Here is my personal experience example.

I was extremly stressed out in 2012 dealing with baby daddies, planning a wedding, looking to buy a house, dealing with realtors and loan officers, going through a custody battle, driving 1.5 hrs one way in extreme traffic to work everyday, and raising 3 kids on my own.

This stress manifested itself in the form of painful itchy HIVES from the bottoms of my feet to my neck. This started in 2009 mildly, but blew up into extreme and severe in early 2012 when I was under much more stress. In my mind I felt a little stressed, but felt it was under control, however, my body disagreed.
I was not into herbal healing at the time, went to doctors. Saw a dermatologist, he took a biopsy, changed my diet (gluten free), and he gave no conclusion.
I spent my wedding night in the ER because I was in so much pain I couldn't stand it anymore.
The ER is where I received a proper diagnosis, HIVES due to stress. I was perscribed Citirizine, an antihistamine. Was told to take it daily, but me being me took it as needed, until I no longer needed it because I knew that I would build a tolerance for it if taken daily even though they say you won't.

I resolved my issues by the end of 2013 and I have not ever needed to take the meds again.

My internal chemistry changed when under all that stress causing HIVES. I believe this is how other illness are presented as well, especially Mental illness'.

I have suffered many losses in life. Defeated in many ways, but I didn't allow myself to focus on just the bad in life. I believe this is why I did not have to battle depression.
I kept this saying close to me, and think it helped tremendously.

There will always be someone better or better off than you and others that will always be worse or worse off than you.

Knowing and believing this improves your overall thought process.
It is best to evaluate everything in your life. The self talk, what you say to others, what you think to yourself, how others treat you, how you treat yourself, and how you treat others. See how much is negitive. Begin to remove the negitive from your life, and watch the improvement in your daily life and mental status.

I was never the chipper optimistic person always smiling, and still am not. I am also not the one down in the dumps all the time, complaining how life is unfair, or that I'm a victim.

There's been many studies of people placing food or water items in sealed containers. Writing positive words on one and negitive words on the other, and talking to those containers the way they are labled. The results will astound you! Even though these inanimate objects can't read and cant hear they showed very different results after days and weeks in their persective containers. The results form by frequencies they are exposed to.

Here's example videos.

Dr. Masaru Emoto:

Now if this can happen to water and rice, what do you think your body is doing when it is surrounded by negitivity all the time, inside and out? We are made of 70% water and our brains 90% water.

Some will be angry with me that I hold this opinion, because we have been taught that mental illness happens to us without our control, not that we create it within ourselves, and do have the power to overcome it.

1. 1st step is to know the TRUTH of the WORD of GOD.
The knowledge that someone loves you is powerful. Some folks don't have anyone in this world, and haven't made a connection to another yet to hear I love you. Knowing there is a Lord out there and that HE loved you enough to DIE for you is powerful!

2. Sleep is needed to keep a healthy mind and body
We should get at least 8 hours per day perferrable during the night hours.
We are designed to sleep at night, not during the daylight hours.

3. Change what you focus on, what you think, how you feel about yourself, change your environment, change the company you keep.
Make positive connections with people. Change your negitive self talk to positive things. Don't focus on all the negative aspects of your life. We all have both negitive and positive things in life. If nothing else you are alive, we all have purpose, and build from there.

The worst case scenario is that you have no family, no home, no job, no food, and on the run from the law.
If you are, the 1st step is to turn yourself in, you will then have a place warm and dry to sleep with food in your belly. Build from there, correct the wrongs in your life, and start building a better life.

Most of us are not in that situation. We may have a poor home life, but that can be improved. You have to make the decision to change and then stick to it.

You woke up today, you can chose to find the good in your daily life.
People do not want to be around someone who is always negitive. A change within yourself must come first.
Start with the sun is shining. or it's raining feeding the plant life and refilling the water supply sources. Enjoy the Lord's creation.
You were created, specifically and on purpose. The Lord's gives you life daily in the breaths you take. Your life may not have been planned by your parents, or your parents may not have even kept you, but the Lord wants you! He created you! Find your purpose through prayer and study of the scriptures.

You can chose to remove people from your life that do not positively support you.
This may leave you lonely, but you can find new people to place in your life that are positive and supportive.
Family doesn't have to be blood related. Sometimes you have to walk away from toxic people.

4. Forgivness is very important for your mental health.
When we hold on to resentment, anger, irritation this can develop into mental illness and physical symptoms as well.
When you have negitive thoughts every time that incident or person comes across your mind this is building on the mental illness.
Holding onto that all that anger is only hurting you. It is not affecting the one you are mad at. It is affecting every part of you, emotionally, physically, mentally, and your relationships with others.
We need to learn to let that go. By doing that you do not have to have a conversation with that person. You do not have to hang out with them or be friends with them. This is an internal decision you make, and it can remain private.

Keep in mind to, the Father says if we do not forgive others he will not forgive us!!
