Updated: Mar 22, 2023

Moringa oleifera is a tree that is grown in tropical regions. The entire tree is edible, nutritious, and medicinal.

You can use the roots, trunk, seed pods, flowers, leaves, and stems. It has also known as miracle tree, drumstick tree, horseradish tree or ben oil tree. If .you do not live in a tropical area you may grow this tree indoors. A large pot in the house or in the ground in a greenhouse. It must have a lot of sun. These trees, if the conditions are right, are hard to kill. A single frost will kill this tree.

This tree is antibiotic, antiseptic and has antioxidants. NO known side affects has ever been reported when using the leaves. This herb has been used dated back to ancient Roman and Greek days.

You can use this cooked and raw. Of course you will get higher levels of the nutritional and medicinal benefits raw, but you can also supplement your cooked meals with this herb as well. This is an excellent food supplement. You can not overdose on this plant, what you do not absorb will pass through your system into waste.

I use a deodorant made from Moringa seeds. It is great, I dont' even have to apply it every day whereas the over the counter products I would have to apply daily. I also have Moringa soap bars that I use for my entire body and hair. I get clean and my hair is still soft and shiny. I drink a Moringa blend tea almost every day. I have selected a Moringa, sage, peppermint tea. I like the mint.

The seeds can be used to purify water. Seeds can also be pressed to render oil. Seeds have been taken in India (1 per day) to help with weight loss or treat malaria. Chewing seeds will give you a sweet taste to water or tea so that you will not have to add sugar. You can chew seeds all day if you wish. By chewing seeds will also be boosting your health.

The roots are also edible in low quantities as it is the most potent part of the tree. It has a high concentration of antibiotics and been known to treat asthma, digestive disorders, gastritis, inflammation and skin disorders. In some areas women have also used it as a permanent birth control. In large quantities however, the root can cause paralyzation, and possible death.

The bark of the tree has been known to treat sexually transmitted diseases, gout, and even arthritis. Some use the bark as animal fodder and the trunks as fence posts. It also has a high concentration of antibiotic properties. Knowledge of how to use both the root and bark is recommended to avoid negative affects.

The flowers are normally used in a medicinal tea to cure colds or help increase lactation for breastfeeding mothers. Some press the flowers to treat for urinary track infections. Flowers can be added to a salad raw or fried. The flavor is described to taste like a mushroom.

Leaves are the most nutritional part of the tree. You can eat them raw or cooked, of course raw you will received the most nutrition of the plant. You can also take them dried and in a capsule. A pinch of leaf will make a cup of tea, and you can reuse it make a second cup.

Many countries have used this plant to treat malnutrition!

I've heard testimonies from folks that have shared that Moringa has cured or normalized blood sugar, blood pressure, diabetes, Parkinson's, and MS. The leaves have been known to also increase energy. Help with hair growth. Reduce cholesterol. Reduce inflammation.

The greener the dried leaf the better. I've seen moringa capsules where the plant inside looks beige, this will not do much for you. It should be a darker green in color to provide the most nutritional value. Dried leaves however do have a reduced potency than fresh leaves so it will take more than it would if you had fresh leaves.

Stems or twigs are used as tooth brushes and chewed on. Some will continue to chew on the stems all day.

Oil is recommended for use on the face. It can be used all over the body and to cook with, but due to the cost most will only have small quantities. However, if you grow your own you can press your own seed pods and use the oil as you wish.

Mothers that use Moringa prior and during pregnancy the resulting delivery is easier and quicker, and the children are more advanced.

I recommend that everyone take Moringa capsules daily if you are not able to acquire fresh moringa. Here in America our diets and lifestyles are not usually heathy ones even if we think they are. Due to GMO products in our stores even if we are vegans we are not getting the nutrients that we need, and we're taking in toxins from our water and air. We can all use the added boost to our health.
